Abstract | ||
Arab Islamic states had seen a boom throughout Abbasid period, particularly in sciences and knowledges, thus enriching Islamic library with many references. In spite of this prosperity, such an epoch was affected by some crises, resulted in the loss of many these references, especially the precious scientific and literary books due to the invasion of the Mongols and Crusading wars in Syria, Iraq and other Islamic states. Some of these lost books were written by Ibn Habib Al- Baghdadi, the literarian, novelist and historian who lived during the 3rd century A.H. It is worth mentioning that Ibn Habib wrote more than (50) books in different sciences; but the titles of only (47) books were found in other historical books and references. However, the most up-to- date investigation mentioned only (45) of these books. In order to uncover Al-Baghdadi method and style, his book " Al-munammaq " was adopted for study and analysis since the majority of this book dealt with pre - and post - Islamic events, in addition to the favor of Quraish for Arabs at that time. Historically speaking, Al- Baghdadi filled significant gaps through his writings. We, therefore, concentrate on his sources of information he adopted in writing his books. | ||
