Abstract | ||
The Zea Mays crop in Iraq is described by the low productivity, The productivity is affected by the applying level of modern agricultural technologies constantly. Providing the farmers with the agricultural technologies is the responsibility of government institutions, Therefore study aims to evaluate the government supply activity in the process of spreading varieties of seeds and chemical fertilizers in cultivating Zea mays L. crop in Al-Mahaweel Agriculture Department/ Babil province.Data were collected from a proportional random sample on several stages of (68) farmers through mediated questionnaire interview survey, As well as statistics for supplying seeds and fertilizers process in Al-Mahaweel Agriculture Department for three seasons 2012-2014.The study concluded that no maize seeds provided to Department farmers for the mentioned seasons and the deficit was amounted to 100% compared by the quantities of seeds needed to grow the area planned by the Dept, as well as the deficit in the amount of fertilizers provided to the farmers in the Dept. In urea fertilizer was (40 - 47)% and in mixed fertilizer between (44 - 74)%. The study found several realizes such as: The absence of with government productivity seeds companies role in providing farmers Zea mays L. crop by seeds types recommended, and this Don’t a proportional with what it had to be, and don't help in speed up and spread the seeds by higher degree and don’t achieve its continuity and sustainability. The researcher recommended to develop strategy sustained to government strategy involved , contracting with companies in the private sector who have experience in the providing and supplying modern agricultural techniques (seeds and chemical fertilizers ) to the farmers, to meet the needs of the agricultural sector from these technologies in partnership with the public governmental sector, By what ensure and achieve continuity and sustainability of this which reflect on productivity and crop production positively. | ||
