Abstract | ||
Laboratory and field experiments were conducted to determine the mechanisms of resistance in cotton plant to Jassid on the more famous cotton cultivars in Iraq(Ashure, Marsomy4, Coker and Lashata).also determined the population density and seasonal presence to pests and evaluate the yield loss.The Results Showed that Coker C.V was the most infected host for jassid followed by Ashure and Lashata , the mean number of the pest was 0.555,0.415,0.361 insect/leaf respectively,and the reason of this Results was had this C.V the least number of hairs(23.63hair/cm2 ) ,the lamina thickness (0.444 micron) and leaf area were lest from the other cultivars(80.24cm2 ),while Marsomy4 C.V was the least infected host for jassid , the mean number of the pest was0.285 insect/leaf because this cultivar had the least number of gossypol gland(52.14 gland/cm2 ) and low gossypol concentration (0.413mg/gm), and hgihest leaf area(98.21cm2 )and hgih number of hairs (43.10 hair/cm2 ). | ||
