Apology is an attitudinal behavior issued when the behavioral norm is broken; its goal is to mitigate the situation and plicate the offended hearer. Typically, the specification of the act of apology raises problematic issues as how to determine the expressions that carry out the act and how these expressions are genuinely formed to repair the situation. The variety of apologetic demands also lead to another problem in practicing translation which cause a difficulty in the act realizations as well as the specificity of language apologetic expressions, and the lack of an appropriate strategic method for rendering the act. Therefore, it is aimed at finding an appropriate strategy for determining the act of apology and specifying accurately the expressions that carry out the act on the basis of its characteristics, components, contextual factors…etc. Exercising how the act is and rendered into Arabic and indicating or suggesting the satisfactory rendering. Objectively, our data is based upon five texts randomly selected from Dumas's play '' The Count of Monte Cristo'' and translated by four translators (M.A Instructors in Translation Dept.). These texts are comprehensibly analyzed according to two levels of analysis namely pragmatic representation and translational comparison with distinct reference to the context used. In conclusion, pragmatically apology is contextually based and socially bound. Productively, there is no formal correspondence between the act of apology and its Arabic counterparts. | ||
