| Abstract | ||
| This experiment was carried out in Animal field- Department of Animal Resources. College of Agriculture and Forestry, Mosul University, by using 24 males of Iraqi local goats at age 9-10 months. They are equal approximately in their initial live weight (22.33 kg) and they were distributed randomly into four treatments each treatment contains 6 males. They fed on four different levels of proteins(10.20,12.15,14.35 and 16.34%) to fattening local goats for period 100 days . The results appeared that there were no significant effect of levels of protein on the mean of final weight, average daily weight gain, total weight gain, daily feed intake and feed conversion . In addition the results showed that the fourth treatment inquires had high final weight (31.00 kg) compared with second treatment (23.30 kg), and also the third treatment surpassed second treatment in daily weight gain by 55 gm/day and the fourth treatment inquires had high total weight gain (8.666 kg) compared with the first treatment (4.60 kg) . As for feed intake, the third treatment had inquires low of daily feed intake (0.632 kg) compare with first treatment (0.772 kg) and the fourth treatment had low feed conversion (8.03 kg feed intake/kg weight gain and the high feed conversion was 16.78 kg feed intake/kg weight gain for first treatment. Also the different levels of protein had no significant effect on cold carcass weight, rib-eye muscle area, subcutaneous fat, percentages of dressing, major cuts, minor cuts, total fat, edible parts and non edible parts. It has concluded from above that there is arithmetic improvement in growth of animals and some traits of carcass when increasing the level of protein from 10.20% in first treatment to 16.34% in the fourth treatment in rations of growth and fattening of goats as a result of the improvement of feed conversion. | ||
