Abstract The high rate of saltiness of Shat El Arab waters is one of the most dangerous problems that face Basrah City these days. This problems increased and caused mass destruction of animals and caused many diseases to human beings. Also, it resulted material loss to the city because Shat El Arab is the main source of life in the city. The saltiness rate in the river is increased apparently in Faw District. The farms and fields that lie at the river bank in Abel Khaseeb, Faw and Shat El Arab districts faced significant damage as result of this saltiness. The main reason of this saltiness was due to the instable tide of Caron river and the shortage of water resources from Tigris and Euphrates as well as Sweeb and the irrigation water. This instability effects clearly the waters of Shat El Arab and leads to losing its liveliness and its influence to plants and animals in addition to human beings. | ||
