| Abstract | ||
| The study was conducted in the animal house of Education college, University of Al-Qadisiyah during the month of October in order to study the effect of sodium benzoate on the levels of certain biochemical parameters in adult albino male rats with three months old, The orally treatment of mature albino male rats with three different concentrations of sodium benzoate (50, 100, 200) mg/kg for three different durations( one, two and three)week were lead to a significant increase (P<0.05) in the levels of ALT and AST enzymes in the 50 mg/kg (G1), 100mg/kg(G2) and 200mg/kg(G3) groups during each period of experiment in comparison with control groups. The comparison between durations for each treatment was showed that the level of ALT was significantly increased (P<0.05) during two and three weeks of treatment in comparison with on week in the G1,G2 and G3 groups, the level of AST was also increased significantly (P<0.05) during three weeks of treatment in G1and during two and three weeks of treatment in both G2 and G3.The results was also showed a significant increase (P<0.05) in the level of total bilirubin in G1group during one week of treatment and in the G1,G2 and G3 groups during two and three weeks of treatment in comparison with control groups. The comparison between durations was showed that the level of total bilirubin was significantly increased (P<0.05) during three weeks of treatment in G1and during two and three weeks of treatment in both G2 and G3. | ||
