Abstract: Studying rivers is an important aspect of hydrological sciences. Such studies are needed for integrated water resources management in the river basins. River flow analysis is very helpful in managing this flow for maximum benefit especially during periods of low flow. The Adhaim river is a major tributary to the river Tigris with its total basin located inside Iraq. In this paper, we made hydro geographical analyses of the Adhaim river basin. These analyses included geology, morphology, topography, climate, soil, natural vegetation and soil erosion and sedimentation. These factors affect the spatial and temporal distributions of the Adhaim river flow. In addition, land use in the river basin which depends primarily on the basin soils was also studied. The basin characteristics of low seasonal rainfall and rolling topography affect the human settlements throughout the basin. | ||
